Why Motorhome Holidays Should Be Top of Your List in 2023

The motorhome is the unsung hero of holidaying nowadays. And now that the world is becoming more open to the staycation idea, it’s only becoming more obvious that the special missing ingredient is a motorhome. We’re looking at all the different holiday experiences you can have with a motorhome as a bucket list for 2023.

Road trip holidays

Motorhomes make for a great choice if you’re a lover of road trips. For the simple practicalities, it’s a form of transportation and accommodation, so you don’t need to shell out for a hotel room on every stop. Instead, jump from city to city, small town to small town, at your own pace, knowing that a bed is parked nearby. Party in one city, food in the next, shopping in the next, museums in the next, with your motorhome taking you from dot to dot on your map.

Secret gem holidays

Or even better, take your motorhome to those far-flung places that have no bed nearby whatsoever. The best thing about motorhomes is that you can take them to places most of the population have never been. If you’ve been told about that waterfall at the end of a long hike, you can park your motorhome as close as possible, knowing it’s waiting for you once you come back from a new gem you can only call heaven. Take a look at www.ariescape.co.uk for more information on motorhomes.

Stargazing holidays

Did you know you can see the Northern Lights if you travel north enough. If you drive through the highlands between October and March, you’re in for a chance of seeing the almost mythical aurora borealis. Your best bet is to take a ferry to the Shetland or Orkney islands, but you also have a chance at the Moray Coast of Aberdeenshire, Ullapool and Lochinver. Even if you don’t, driving to a country spot in your motorhome will allow you to sit under the stars and enjoy some stargazing as long as you want. Pack a telescope to really enjoy the lack of light pollution.

Beach holidays

We’re on an island, which means there are plenty of gorgeous beaches to take advantage of. And because our temperature is rarely above comfortable with a jumper on, we’ve come to just embrace the beaches we have no matter the weather. A motorhome on the beach can make for a great weekend getaway. In the hotter months you can head to Ardrossan and have a dip, and in the cooler months simply take a wander down Troon beach. Take your motorhome up the country coast and discover a rugged beach you’ve never seen before that’s empty and have your motorhome to come back to when the dog is tired out from retrieving sticks from the water.

Festival holidays

The UK is full of festivals. It seems the second the temperature is above freezing, we all need to get into a field with some good music. And that experience is made immensely easier with a motorhome. It doesn’t have to be Glastonbury, although that is a great option, but you can drive for an hour outside any UK city and find a beer festival, a Celtic festival, a music festival, and a million other options. They usually last all weekend, however, which means you’re going to need to know how to get there and how to stay there. Enter the motorhome.

But the best part isn’t even the festival itself, it’s getting to know your neighbours. They’re usually outside their caravans with a pull out chair, a bucket hat, and a can of beer to enjoy before (and after) things get rowdy.

Skiing holidays

Scotland, or Britain in general, isn’t what immediately comes to mind when you think of skiing, but if you were to head to Cairngorms, Glencoe, or plenty of other options across Scotland, you’ll be able to get in a skiing holiday without the need to fly to the Alps. Pack up your equipment in your motorhome, drive for a couple of hours, and hit the slopes. Don’t bother renting out a log cabin either, since your motorhome will be waiting for you at the bottom.

Campsite holidays

Or combine a few of these ideas into a camping trip, except a motorhome will make it a much better experience. Can a tent transport you to the campsite? Can a tent retain heat? Can it store a kitchen and bathroom? A motorhome will allow you to have the camping experience without feeling like you’re just surviving a holiday. Plus, campsites are often a lot cheaper than hotel rooms, or outright free if you find the right spot to park.
