Emily Saunders Unveils New Single ‘Floating’ Ahead of Upcoming Album ‘Moon Shifts Oceans’

The Jazz-Fusion Powerhouse Returns with a Soulful, Genre-Bending Masterpiece

Emily Saunders is back, and she’s bringing all the soulful, jazz-infused magic with her. Known for weaving jazz-fusion, Brazilian beats, and sultry vocals into a hypnotic soundscape, Saunders has announced the release of her highly anticipated new album Moon Shifts Oceans—landing on 28th March via The Mix Sounds. But before that, she’s treating us to Floating, a stunning new single out 7th February, proving once again why she’s the Queen of Jazz Fusion.

‘Floating’: A Love Song with a Twist

Forget your typical heartbreak anthem. Floating flips the script on lost love and failed relationships, offering a fresh perspective on personal accountability. Saunders’ hypnotic vocals glide over layered synths, lush harmonies, and intricate rhythms, delivering a sound that’s both ethereal and deeply human.

“When a relationship fails, it hurts,” says Saunders. “But Floating is about taking accountability, learning from it, and moving forward.” That honesty shines through in every note. Whether you’re reminiscing about an old flame or just vibing to its dreamy production, this track hits deep.

Saunders performs Floating live with just voice and keys. But for this release, she’s gone full ‘Emily-style’—an immersive, multilayered production featuring shimmering synths, reverb-drenched guitars, and cinematic harmonies.

‘Moon Shifts Oceans’: A Soundtrack for Late Nights and Deep Feels

With Moon Shifts Oceans, Saunders is creating more than just music—she’s crafting an experience. The album blends jazz-fusion, neo-soul, and Brazilian rhythms with a contemporary edge. Imagine Goldfrapp meeting Erykah Badu on a beach in Rio, with a touch of broken beat thrown in for good measure.

Each song immerses the listener in a world of deep emotions and textured soundscapes. Saunders describes it as “a creation of beauty, strength, and soul,” a record that perfectly captures the electric energy of a night out where the music, the atmosphere, and the people come together in perfect harmony.

This isn’t just an album—it’s a journey.

From Brixton Streets to Global Recognition

Born in Charing Cross and raised in Brixton, Saunders has music in her DNA. But life hasn’t always been smooth sailing. After navigating complex family dynamics, she found solace in music, using it as a tool for healing and self-expression. By 16, she was living in a hostel, turning personal challenges into creative fuel.

That resilience became even more critical when, in 2017, she was diagnosed with acute psoriatic arthritis, leaving her temporarily paralyzed. “It would be easy to ask why me?” she says. “But it’s empowering to be free even when everything around you feels like it’s closing in.” Instead of letting it stop her, she used it to push her sound even further, crafting music with more depth, more honesty, and more freedom.
