With some amazing entries, the Out Of X Competition winner is Italian designer Antonio Cannizzo. Creating 3D printed jewellery, his work is perfectly in line with the OOX ethos.

Hello Antonio, how are you?

Hello! I’m fine thanks.

How long have you been designing for?

For three years I devote myself to the CAD design. Having studied the techniques of 3D modelling I wanted to apply to the field of jewellery that I was always fascinated and excited.

What is the inspiration behind your piece?

I always wanted to create unique pieces and it was impossible to replicate without the use of modern printing techniques 3d.

Where do you find inspiration?

I draw inspiration from the world around. I love nature and I take a lot of inspiration from it. all forms are born from the need to transmit, balance that is precisely what that nature tends.

What is the future for jewellery 3D printing?

Today any object that requires a precision to a tenth of a millimetre or less, is achieved by means of 3D printing. even if the costs are not currently contained.

Tell us about the manufacturing process of a ring of 3D printing briefly

Starting from a sketch made in pencil, I make a model using a 3D modeling software. did this I send the file to the printer 3d through a process of solidification laser created a prototype resin. Later I realize the 3D model in resin a metal model of the jewel. Now the piece is ready to be entrusted to my collaborator goldsmith who cleans and system for final delivery. This process allows you to create unique models to measure and to offer a service of “made to order”.

Do you take ecological effects in your process?

Yes absolutely! are much look forward to respect nature, that’s why utilisso a non-toxic resin that during the process in which it is dissolved, has an ultra-low ash content. less than 0.008%!

What do you like to OOX?

OOX is a valuable service for those who want to enter the world of design and has maybe a budget enough to produce their own pieces. It ‘a shame that a lot of pieces can not be made only for lack of initial funds.

How can you change OOX the future of independent designers in your eyes?

I think it can seriously help in the growth of a new brand. I myself am living this experience and I must say it is very addictive and fun!

Who are your style icons?

Contrary to what people may think, be inspired by someone, I think, inevitably leads to always play the same objects that may have different materials but not for style. That’s why I’m trying to break away from all the style icons who have and who dominate the world scene, and I try to create pieces whose design has suffered due to the MADE IN ITALY! Minimalist design and captivating.

What three words would you use to describe your design style?

Creative, Exciting, Unique

What’s next for you?

I’m starting to advertise my products and by year-end 2015 will present a collection of women and men who will be available from January 2016. In an even more distant future I see the realization of a store devoted exclusively to the realization of personalized jewellery of any kind. I want Bringing luxury to another level, focusing on being able to offer customers a service of personalization of any item they wish. Here’s what Wait Antonio Cannizzo Design.
