Master Oh believes the key to healing lies in energy—and raising your vibration. His new documentary, About Light and Shadows, which had its UK premiere on 31 March at Vue Leicester Square and is now showing in VUE Cinemas across the UK from 4 April, delves into the hidden truths of existence. Blending science and spirituality, the film explores the connection between the visible and invisible worlds, offering a powerful message of transformation, peace, and purpose. In this interview, Master Oh discusses how energy vibration can transform lives, ease anxiety, and bring people closer to their true selves.
What inspired ‘About Light and Shadows’, and what do you hope audiences take away from the film?
The film was inspired by the current movement towards spirituality that we are seeing in the world paired with the rising numbers of chronic illness affecting people’s mental, emotional and physical health. People are looking for answers in the field of spirituality and alternative medicine. I had the great honor and privilege to be asked to be part of this documentary, because both the producer Miquel Daura and the director JAGC Labella found that the practice I teach embodies this new spirituality, which is talking about energy, connection and stepping out of the more traditional parameters into a personal sensory experience. People can experience powerful transformation and the stories of the people in the documentary are testimony of the deep change that can be achieved through the power of vibration alone. I believe this subject is extremely relevant to what we are both living and searching for today.
The film touches on vibration as the “language of the Universe”—how do you explain this idea to someone new to energy healing?
Everything in the universe has a vibration, a rhythm, because everything is energy. Energy is in a constant state of movement. Without movement there is no life. There is a unique vibration that supports and connects all of us, which is the vibration of life itself. The documentary talks about this, from a spiritual but also from a scientific point of view, and what we see are very similar ways of thinking. Happiness and gratitude are a very high vibration, whereas fear and anger are low vibrations. The vibration of life is the highest of all, it supports our health, our emotions and allows us to have a clear mind and receive wisdom. When we are connected we can recharge with this vibration and receive more light to overcome our challenges.
How do your teachings address the mental and physical stressors people face in fast-paced urban environments like London?
Nowadays we are so busy, we have so many choices of things to do, people to see, and work to carry out. This fast pace can be very rewarding but it also requires much more from us and it is easy to drain out life-force energy and become depleted. Low levels of life-force energy can bring about digestive issues, anxiety, stress, chronic fatigue and all types of mental, physical and emotional symptoms. This energy cannot be replaced with the energy from food and water, which is like the petrol in a car. Our life-force energy is our innate energy, like the battery. In order to recharge our battery we need to reconnect with ourselves and realign with our essence. It requires time, commitment and an open mind and heart. When people come to a Sun Kyeong centre or to one of my events they learn to make this connection so they can start receiving this vibration and recharging themselves. By doing so they can clear these symptoms.
You’ve worked with people across the globe. What do you find is the most common energetic block preventing people from feeling happy?
The biggest mistake we make nowadays is to look for happiness in a job, in a partner, in our career, or in material things. These things are outside of us and they come and go, which makes our happiness temporary. When things are going well we are high, but when we lose the things to which we attribute our happiness, then we go down. This isn’t real happiness, it’s pleasure. It will never satisfy who we truly are because it is coming from outside of ourselves. True happiness comes from inside, from our essence. We are made of body, mind and spirit. Our spirit is like an invisible sun, made of universal light, love and energy. To tap into ourselves we need to support our light, love and energy, with our mind and body by thinking and supporting others. Then when we give, we receive. Without knowing, we’ve forgotten who we are and because of that we are always looking to receive. We need to change our mindset.

In the documentary, we see science and spirituality working in parallel. How can these two disciplines support each other more in the future?
Nature is the body of the mind of the universe, and there are universal laws which exist for all life to continue. I believe science is the study of these laws and spirituality is the practice of connecting to them. Everything physical is supported by something invisible, which is light, love and energy with mind. Just like our spirit supports our physical body and all its functions, the Source of life supports the physical universe with vibration. Everything is working in harmony. What the documentary brings to light is that spirituality and science are more similar than we think. Everything is energy.
Many creatives in Shoreditch are exploring alternative wellness paths. What practices would you recommend to help raise personal energy vibration?
I recommend they try smiling meditation. It’s one of the most powerful things anyone can do. Try smiling in every moment, and if something or someone challenges you, make a decision to stay smiling. When you frown you effectively close your energy system, which doesn’t help you to stay positive. If you smile, that helps keep your energy system open so that you can receive the light, love and energy you need to stay happy. We all have a right to be happy, no matter what is happening in our lives.
If people are struggling with low energy, stress, emotions and other symptoms – or simply looking for more connection, I recommend they try a Qi Treatment or a Qi Class (at the Sun Kyeong centre). There’s a great team of highly trained masters that can help them recharge and open their energy blockages. This practice also helps them to better understand themselves and their bodies so they can support their lives in a powerful, practical and sustainable way
About Light and Shadows was filmed across six countries. What did you learn from the different cultures and people you encountered during the filming?
I’ve been travelling for over 35 years to share the vibration of life with people in so many different countries. This really interested the producer and the directors and they decided to follow me and my team to all the countries we were visiting. Wherever I go I see that people are the same, everyone needs to receive universal light, love and energy. When we don’t have enough we become negative, emotional and we can develop physical issues. At the end everyone is looking for connection, to each other and to the source of life. When we achieve this connection we feel happy, energised, clear and we start to be able to share what we have with others. We find our true nature, which is warm, generous, loving, wise and compassionate.

How can someone begin their own journey into energy healing or connecting with universal vibration—especially if they live a busy, modern lifestyle?
I recommend for people to join my two day “Energy & Connection” experience. Just like we support our body by exercising and our mind by studying -we need to make time to support our true essence., which is our spirit. When people join my retreat, they can learn the fastest way to make this connection to universal energy. Through meditations using sound and energising movements, they can receive the vibration they need to support their mind and body. My deepest wish is for everyone to find their own connection.
