The key to choosing the right jacket/coat is knowing which style is going to suit your body shape. This is easy for women who seem to get tons of advice on how to dress for their physique, but what about men? Superdry has created a graphic to help men get the right jacket/coat for their shape and look seriously good this season.

For example:

  • If you’re an INVERTED TRIANGLE – your arms, chest and shoulders are generally a bit bigger, with your hips and waist coming up smaller. Be subtle and opt for an unstructured jacket to accentuate your build – why not go for a pea-coat, polo shirt and jeans?
  • If you’re a TRAPEZOID – your chest and shoulders are a bit broader, with slimmer hips. Generally classed as an ‘athletic’ body shape, you want to draw attention to your hips, so go for a bomber jacket that stops at the perfect point, as well as a white t-shirt and jeans to complete the look.
  • If you’re OVAL – you’re a little rounder around the centre of your body with slim arms and legs, try adding width to your shoulders to create a square shape streamlining from your top half down to your legs. Go for a longer trench coat.
  • If you’re a TRIANGLE – your chest and shoulders are a little narrower than your waist and hips. Avoid looking bottom heavy by opting for an open structured jacket to draw attention to your chest area. Why not try a structured blazer with a smart shirt and chino trousers?

The infographic serves as a useful tool to ensuring you’re showing off the best parts of your body, as well as keeping up-to-date with the season’s best coat styles!
