3 Easy Ways To Make The Most Of Your Tiny Bathroom

If you are looking to get your hands on an apartment in one of London’s trendiest regions, Shoreditch should definitely be at the top of your list. Not only will you be living within walking distance of a plethora of trendy shops and eateries, but you will also be privy to a vibrant nightlife and effervescent work culture. While your address definitely gives you bragging rights, chances are your apartment may not be quite as roomy as you would have liked. More often than not, your bathroom will be the room in your apartment that is the most spatially-challenged. Thankfully, there are a number of things you can do to make the most of your tiny bathroom.

Aim for light and bright

Any interior designer will tell you that opting for light, neutral colours in your bathroom will make it look and feel significantly bigger. If the mere thought of a full white or beige room makes you feel uneasy, however, you can always add a splash of colour by covering one wall in contrasting paint or tiles. The team at Atlas Ceramics suggests that you inject a bit of glitz and glamour into your tiny bathroom with a selection of sparkling wall and floor tiles. You ultimately want your bathroom to look light and airy, so avoid too many dark-coloured tiles, even if they do have a glittering appearance.

Hang multiple mirrors

Hanging mirrors to visually extend the size of a room is one of the oldest and most effective decorating tricks in the book. Instead of just hanging one singular, small mirror above the vanity, consider opting for multiple larger ones, or, if you are really brave, mirror an entire wall. All the light and patterns that are reflected off a mirror will make your bathroom appear to be substantially larger. Remember that there is no decorating rule book that states that you have to hang unsightly, unframed mirrors in your bathroom – or anywhere else in your apartment for that matter. A large, beautifully-framed mirror will not only visually enlarge your space but can also become a very attractive decorative focal point.

Don’t store on the floor

If you clutter the floor space in your bathroom, chances are it will look and feel even smaller than before. Instead, keep your storage off the floor by making good use of stylish shelves and cabinets. Floating shelves are very trendy right now and will add a whole new dimension to your bathroom. Cabinets and shelves aren’t entirely against the small bathroom decorating rules, but make sure to keep them sleek and shallow. The last thing you want is for your shelves and cabinets to extend halfway towards the centre of your bathroom. Depending on the layout of your bathroom, you may want to think about putting up a narrow, stylish ledge along the whole length of the room to keep some of your essentials tidy.

Having a small apartment does not have to be a curse. As long as you possess some vision and creativity, you can transform even the smallest of bathrooms into a gorgeous, functional space.
