Sadler’s Wells has unveiled Eastbound, a mesmerizing short film celebrating dance and community, as anticipation builds for the February 2025 opening of their new state-of-the-art theatre in Stratford. This exciting addition to theaters in London will be a cornerstone of the East London cultural district in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

A Cinematic Dance Journey Through East London

Eastbound, available now on Sadler’s Wells’ Digital Stage, takes viewers on a dynamic dance journey through Stratford’s iconic sites. Created by choreographer Kloé Dean and director Sarah Vaughan-Jones, the film features local landmarks like Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Westfield, and even a bustling corner shop. This celebration of community is enriched by an original grime-inspired soundtrack by Warren Morgan-Humphreys, a.k.a. Flamin Beatz.

A Spotlight on Local Talent

The film highlights the incredible talent nurtured in East London. Malachi Welch, a performer with Sadler’s Wells since age three, leads the cast. Welch’s illustrious career includes collaborations with companies like Boy Blue and performances in international hits such as Message In A Bottle. Local community groups, including Hibiscus Community Centre, Lister School, and Langdon Park School, also star in Eastbound, showcasing the diverse cultural fabric of East London.
