G: Tell us about your business.
We do charcoal grilled burgers with triple cooked chips and home made condiments. We also offer specialties like the Chicano pulled pork sandwich and a beer marinated steak sandwich. We love burgers, and being fine dinning chefs we have high expectations. We wanted to create a good quality and “guilt free” burger using local products and at a good price. Also, we use natural charcoal in an enclosed oven to grill our burgers, smoking the meat in the process. With the exception of the mustard all the sauces are made by us! From the ketchup to our Bourbon BBQ sauce.
G: Why did you choose Shoreditch for your new store?
Shoreditch just felt like the right place. I have lived in the area for 5 years, when there were just a few bars and restaurants. I have wanted to open my own place ever since and Boxpark provided the right opportunity, in the heart of Shoreditch.
G: What do you think will be the main challenges developing your business in Shoreditch and how are you planning to overcome them?
The main challenge will be to become a known name in the midst of a lot of excellent independent initiatives.
G: What would you say have been your most memorable experiences while developing your company?
The most memorable experience was to fit our entire concept into a shipping container. It was a challenge, but I believe we have managed to create a really nice space to relax and enjoy a burger without too much fuss.
G: What were the main drivers of success in your company?
The quality of our food, our laid-back environment and the good people we have around us.
G: Who/what are your favourite CEOs/Businesses in Shoreditch?
That is a tough one! There are a lot of great people and excellent places around Shoreditch. Twins Diverses on Brick Lane – that is great design, made in Shoreditch! Jaguar Shoes and The Owl and Pussycat are a regular occurrence too, specially after a long shift!
