How PISAPIA Is Pushing Neo-Rave Boundaries with “Hybrid Boom V.2”

Italian neo-rave sensation PISAPIA is charging into 2025 with unstoppable momentum. His latest release Hybrid Boom V.2 via No Mercy builds on last year’s acclaimed original, delivering peak-time intensity just in time for his Miami Music Week debut. We caught up with PISAPIA to talk about the making of “Hybrid Boom V.2,” his whirlwind global tour, and why the neo-rave movement is only getting louder.

“Hybrid Boom V.2” hits hard—what pushed you to revisit and reimagine the original?

Revisiting Hybrid Boom was a big moment for me. The label reached out to ask for a rework, and honestly, I couldn’t have been more excited. That track was a turning point in my career, one of the pieces that really defined my sound at the time. I wanted to keep that raw energy, but add layers, introduce fresh elements, and take it to places I hadn’t gone before. I really hope people feel the evolution in it, but also recognize that same intensity and emotion that made the original so important. It’s a journey for me, and I hope it resonates with everyone who’s been following my sound.

Your sound is raw, intense, and built for peak-time moments. What emotions are you hoping to ignite on the dance floor?

When I’m behind the decks, I’m not just playing tracks, I’m giving everything I have. That connection with the crowd is everything to me. I move, I dance, I lock in with the energy of the room because that exchange is what gives the set its real power. I want people to feel free, wild, maybe even a little out of control. The kind of emotion that stays with you after the music stops.

You’ve played everywhere from Fabrik to a hot air balloon. What’s been your most surreal set so far?

The balloon for sure was one of the craziest ever, just being suspended in the sky, surrounded by silence except for the music and the wind. It was surreal, like DJing on another planet. We also did this private afterparty in a crazy villa up in the hills of LA. It was super intimate, and the vibe was just perfect, raw and spontaneous. And then there was my birthday—playing on a boat, surrounded by friends and strangers, drifting with the music as the sun set. It’s those moments that remind me why I do this.

From Sydney to Miami Music Week—how do different global crowds shape your energy behind the decks?

Every crowd is different of course, every city brings a different energy, and that’s what makes touring so inspiring. I read the room, feel the energy, and adjust in real time. The goal is always the same, to give people an experience they’ll remember, something that goes beyond just dancing.

Neo-rave is exploding right now. What do you think defines the genre, and how are you putting your stamp on it?

I’m always trying to put into my music something unique and trying to be different from the other artists. Neo-rave is definitely having a moment, it’s raw, energetic, and rebellious, but blends styles, from hard techno and trance to punk aesthetics and experimental textures. What defines it for me is that feeling of controlled chaos, fast BPMs, distorted kicks, emotional melodies, and that unfiltered intensity that hits you both physically and emotionally. There are so many talented producers right now, so carving out your own identity in this space isn’t easy. But that’s what drives me—finding that edge, that sound that makes someone say, “That’s a PISAPIA track.”

Amelie Lens, SHLOMO, and Brutalismus 3000 have all supported your tracks. What does that kind of recognition mean to you?

It’s a pleasure to be supported by these amazing DJs. These are people I’ve looked up to, not just for their sound, but for how they’ve shaped the culture. When someone at that level plays one of my tracks, it reminds me that what I’m creating is connecting beyond my own circle. It’s motivating. It pushes me to keep evolving, to experiment more, and to stay true to my own sound.

Your sets feel cinematic and immersive. Outside of music, where else do you draw creative inspiration from?

From everyone and everything, every place is good for me to take inspiration from. I take inspiration from energy, flashing lights, bodies in motion, late-night chaos. The pulse of a crowd, the echo of a warehouse. It’s less about where and more about feeling. Anything with rhythm, tension, or distortion feeds into the sound. We live in an era where you can take inspiration from anywhere.

With a packed release schedule and global bookings, what’s your focus for the rest of 2025—and what’s keeping you grounded?

2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for me. I’m currently deep into my biggest tour yet, just finishing up in the US then returning to Europe this summer. I have already played so many shows this year including Australia and India, proving the neo rave sound is going global.

What keeps me grounded is remembering where I started. No matter how big the stage, I stay connected to the underground scene that shaped me. Each set is a chance to bring that raw, authentic energy to new audiences.
