Stuck at the quiet end of Curtain road, the Horse and Groom is a good pub which was refurbished some time ago in a fairly traditional style. ‘Traditional’ in this context means fairly upmarket but understated; the overall effect is quite elegant and rather different to the more northerly Hoxtonite destinations or city boy bars further south. However, its location – sitting right on the edge of these two very different areas – is probably one reason why its easier to get a seat here and the atmosphere is more relaxed than other nearby places.
