Everyone has heard of speed dating, sitting opposite a stranger with a few awkward minutes to tell that person your life story so far. Thankfully, The Note Well have adapted this idea and introduce a brand new way of meeting and chatting with new people and not necessarily just for dating.
All you need to bring along with you is a music player, some ear/headphones and an open mind to new music. At speed listening you sit opposite a stranger and plug your headphones into someone else’s music player. They control the music you listen to and you control theirs. You then play each other music from your player that the other person may not have heard. You then discuss the bands you’re listening to and continue to exchange music and opinions. You could end up listening to the Cameroonian Francis Beby’s upbeat The Coffee Cola Song, or the retro-electro/dance/disco tunes of Moullinex. The more random and unknown, the more you have to talk about. This is a fun and innovative way to bring people together.
Having secured a second night at the Wig Wam Bam, which can be found at the roof top terrace of the Queen of Hoxton, this is sure to be another successful night of music exchange. The setting is perfect for fun and new experiences. The wig wam houses a wooden shack for a bar, serving delicious warm drinks such as Hot Gin Punch and Mulled Cider, there is an open grill in the middle to order unusual dishes such as elk meatballs and buffalo burgers. You can even purchase some marshmallows to cook on any of the several log fires burning on the terrace. The seats are made from wooden logs and benches covered with faux fur with tables to match, arranged in such a way that encourages people to interact and mingle. With a warm, almost Native American feel, this makes it a great venue for meeting new people and listening to new music.
The next event is scheduled to be held on 14th December 5pm – 7pm at the Queen of Hoxton.
