At the Museum of London, a new exhibit Tattoo London is dedicated to four local tattoo studios with a featured artist: Lal Hardy at New Wave, Alex Binnie at Into You, Claudia de Sabe at Seven Doors and Mo Coppoletta at The Family Business. Tattooing has been ingrained in London culture since “Captain Cook made his adventures to the Pacific,” according to the Museum of London.
The exhibit Tattoo London shows past and current tattooing in London. There will also be newly commissioned artworks from the studios, demonstrating the variety of creative skills the artists have.
Mo Coppoletta founded The Family Business. He was born in Verona, Italy and started tattooing at 27. Keeping his own signature style, he also forsees future trends.
Alex Binnie from Into You tattoo studio went to art school and started tattooing in the 80’s, after getting inked up himself for a decade. His broad style allows him to put his own spin on his customers ideas. “I passionately believe that tattooing is a collaboration between artist and client, and try and have my work reflect that,” Binnie said.
Claudia de Sabe from Seven Doors Tattoo Studio in East London attended art school. She is from Italy and likes to travel and go to conventions as often as possible.
Lal Hardy founded New Wave Tattoo studio. He was guided by the most influential person in the tattoo realm, Don Ed Hardy. Hardy specializes in all styles at New Wave.
