Furniture has become an everyday function in material culture. We use it for practical, functional and aesthetic purposes. But with the technology of the future, artist Ben Branagan explores what materialism will create in the face of an ever-changing world.

In Branagan’s series Possible Disasters, he collages catalogue images of furniture and makes quick dissonances from the actual object to abstract the viewer’s point of view. Not only is he interested in the aesthetic, but also the meaning behind it. He is searching for the patterns and movement through each image to predict the future of furniture and what it means as a society.
