With a bit of imagination, everything can become a piece of art, no matter how tiny. Javier Perez knows that well.
Ecuadorian illustrationist and art director has delighted the public with superb, awe-inspiring sculptures, installations, photos and videos, but he has recently decided to experiment something slightly less majestic – but absolutely brilliant – on Instagram.
His experiments are quirky, cheerful and minimal illustrations with an unexpected “twist”, something more: his small subjects are never simple drawings, but are the results of the combination of subtle strokes of black ink with everyday objects that take a whole new role in his compositions.
That’s how, in his works, grapes are a child’s pink balloons, M&M’s are no longer a sweet treat but colours on a palette, Oreo’s (yum) become world-maps and tape turns into a man’s eyeglasses.
These pictures are our favourite experiments; you can find your favourites too on his Instagram page, or you can go on his website if you want to be enchanted by all his other mesmerizing works.
