Belgian artist Eric van Straaten is on the search for help to afford a 3D printer. The artist is calling upon sponsors to help support him in his artwork through an online campaign. Each of his sculptures uses a 3D printer as the medium of creation. Though the sculptures have been proven to be a success over the years, the cost to individually produce one has set Eric van Straaten back. Now, he is looking to have more artistic control of his own sculptures by purchasing his own machine. For people that help sponsor his project, Eric van Straaten is offering special editions of his Humbelles Series. This series features 3D printed miniatures of different figures of children. Van Straaten draws inspiration from the human form, specifically women. The use of different items and animals for the background help make the figures come to life. This specific series features younger girls in a doll-like form. While the figures appear to be cute, Eric van Straaten has said that sometimes he sees them representing his own demons that he struggles with. The colorful sculptures are expected to be printed by a printer within the next week.
