Flora Borsi uses the manipulation of her photographs to create surreal images for the viewer. Originally from Hungary, the fine arts photographer uses her camera to focus on the ideas of identity, relationships, emotions and dreams. These ideas are done with the use of an editing software after taking her photographs. She doesn’t want her images to look fake, though. Her goals with the editing software are to create an image that looks so real it is hard to tell where the photograph ends and the editing begins.
She captures a complex range of strength and fragility of each model in her photographs. Flora Borsi isn’t afraid to take the urban world and tilt it on its head by adding the dreamlike quality and surrealism into each shot. This opens up the viewer to think, feel and dream in a different way after viewing the range of images. By often using a female model as her subject, she is opening up the questions about the feminine form and what it represents in society. Some of her notable work has been featured at the Louvre, France, as well as gaining press acclaim from The Guardian’s Observer. Her artwork was the face of Adobe Photoshop back in 2014.
