Artist Meghan Howland paints the beauty of nature through stunning portraits of delicate faces. Using oil paints, she incorporates softer pastels with muddier navies and greens. By doing so, she contrasts and questions the roots of beauty. She integrates flower petals and bird feathers into the human face, creating a sense of mystery and wondrous awe. Her paintings evoke the freeness of the outdoors, which inspired her to paint. Howland grew up in New Hampshire and spent her summers in Maine which later greatly influenced her work. She intends to create complex emotional imagery from a contemporary viewpoint.
