Simply armed with a pair of scissors, Lola Dupré produces these amazing ‘exploding’ portraits. Despite their seamless appearance, the artist doesn’t use any form of digital manipulation, but instead carefully maps out each piece and then cuts and sticks everything down by hand. This creative process can take up to 30 hours, which may sound painstaking to most of us, but is a joy for Dupré who has been experimenting with the medium of collage and photomontage since she was a child. Combining the Dada aesthetic of the early 20th century with figures from popular culture, the artist’s unique and powerful style of work certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed, with her having worked with brands including Penguin Books, TIME magazine and Nike Basketball.
