On Saturday 27th May 2023, a brand-new pop-up, Katsu & Buns will be launching at The Chapel Bar Terrace in the heart of Islington. The exciting new concept will feature twists on Asian street food favourites, as well as a ‘bao-undless’ buns and bottomless booze brunch offering.
Katsu & Buns founder Shaun Smith launched the concept at the end of 2022, with the aim of combining Japanese classics and best-loved street food, to bring an authentic and fun dining concept to the London foodie scene.
Every Saturday from 11.30am-7pm, diners can enjoy an array of ‘bao-untiful’ bao buns. From Korean pork, Peking duck and pumpkin katsu baos to shiitake mushroom teriyaki and chicken katsu and sataybuns. Brunchers can also opt for free-flowing Prosecco or a choice of some skilfully crafted Japanese cocktails.
The Chapel Bar, an events space near Angel station, is the location for this exciting pop up. A large open plan space on the first floor, featuring a fully stocked bar leads out onto a delightful sun-drenched Katsu & Buns terrace. This is a stunning spot to soak up the rays with friends and family throughout the day.
