Museum of the Home hosts the return of Ceramics in the City after six years

After a break of six years, Museum of the Home is proud to announce the return of Ceramics in  the City, a vibrant celebration of ceramics showcasing the work of more than 45 of the leading  ceramic artists in the UK and beyond, alongside some of today’s rising talents.

Curated by Karen Bunting, who founded the fair in 2002, Ceramics in the City is part of London  Design Festival and will offer a selection of ceramic work to suit all budgets. Offering the  opportunity to meet the makers and learn more about each piece, visitors will be able to browse  everything from practical tableware and earthy stoneware to vividly painted ornamental objects  and striking one-off collector pieces.

Yorkshire-born Bunting graduated from London University with a degree in chemistry before discovering pottery. Known for reduction fired stoneware, her work is intended for use in the  home. Each piece is initially thrown or hand-built, then individually worked and decorated. She  has been making and selling pots for nearly 50 years and has lived and worked in Hackney for  over 40 years. Bunting has exhibited and sold work in galleries and ceramic events all over the  world, and in 2020 she was made an Honorary Fellow of the Craft Potters Association.

The fair’s eclectic selection of ceramic work from nearly 50 artists offers pieces to suit any home or budget. The elegant, muted tones of stoneware will available alongside traditional, delicate  porcelain and vivid painterly pots that create an extravaganza of texture, colour and style.
