Underwater Photographer Releases ‘lady Liberty’ Artwork On Labor Day

Sony World Open Photography Award Winner Christy Lee Rogers celebrates Americans today with a message of hope and freedom; in the release of her new star-spangled limited edition photograph.

Christy’s Labor Day release is titled “Lady Liberty” and was created in one of her first underwater photography shoots in her home sate of Hawaii. It was kept private for over 10 years and is now available as a Museum Quality Photograph, 22.5 x 30” (57 x 76 cm), in a limited edition of 100 for $950 via UK based A Gallery. $200 from each sale will go direct to Save the Children.

Christy says: “The children are our future, and we need to safeguard them and their freedoms and rights to be anything they want to be. They should live in a safe world and be nurtured and protected from harm. All people, no matter what race or creed are born free and with human rights. This image stands for freedom in all forms.”

Through Save the Children’s work in the United States and around the world, they’ve changed the lives of over 1 billion children. They work in over 100 countries, doing whatever it takes — every day and in times of crisis — to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. In 2022 alone, Save the Children programs and partners helped 118 million children in 116 countries become healthier, safer and better educated.

Christy Lee Rogers is a visual artist from Hawaii. Her obsession with water as a medium for breaking the conventions of contemporary photography has led to her work being compared to Baroque painting masters like Caravaggio. Christy was commissioned by Apple to create underwater images with the iPhone 11Pro, as well as being featured in one of their behind-the-scenes process films. In 2019 she won Open Photographer of the Year at the Sony World Photography Awards and she created the cover image for the 2021 Lavazza Calendar ‘The New Humanity.’ Rogers’ “Reckless Unbound” is currently housed at the stately home Longleat House in the UK which is also home to Renaissance gems of the Italian masters, like Titan’s “Rest on the Flight into Egypt.” Rogers’ art has been featured on several album covers, including “Orchesography” for the 80’s band Wang Chung, and her images were selected for the 2013–2014 performance season of the Angers-Nantes Opera in France.
