A love letter from London to Oaxaca at Decimo, The Standard London

This 2nd November, Decimo’s Michelin-awarded Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias is welcoming, Ixta Belfrage, author of MEZCLA: Recipes to Excite and co-author of Ottolenghi’s FLAVOUR for an evening celebrating the cuisine of Oaxaca, with a collaborative food menu alongside lots of mezcal at The Standard, London 

Kicking off the occasion with a Mezcal Amarás welcome cocktail of Guyaba and naranja agria mezcalita, guests will toast to the start of a collaborative, family-style four course menu of snacks, starters, mains, and desserts, whilst overlooking the dramatic views of London’s skyline. Peter and Ixta have taken inspiration from Oaxaca, a region world famous for its cuisine, to create a menu that is bold and flavour intense.  

The collaborative menu is imbued with spice & bright, fresh flavours. Starting snacks include Crab tamale steamed in banana leaf & Prawn chile relleno with habanero salsa roja, perfectly complemented by the welcome Mezcal cocktail.  

Sharing style dishes for starters and mains will be served including; Red mullet & yellow tomato agua chile with charred casacabel and Warm plantain and sweet potato crisps, followed by grilled chicken with a complex Oaxacan mole and corn tacos, finishing off the evening with a dessert of Masa ice cream taco with caramelized tortilla, coffee and cacao cajeta. 

Guests will be offered an exclusive first opportunity to taste a new product being launched by Mezcal Amarás at the end of their meal. For those that love Mezcal, this is truly a unique opportunity to guarantee a taste as a total of only 24 bottles will be available to the UK market.  

Ixta draws inspiration from three countries that she either grew up in, travelled to or obsessed over, and her style of cooking plays homage to Mexican, Brazilian, and Italian flavours and ingredients. Pete’s story is the same, with is family’s affinity to Spain and Mexico woven into every layer of his cooking. Together, they come to honour the region of Oaxaca and invite guests to join them at Decimo. 

Hidden away from the busy streets of London below, guests will enjoy a secluded evening in the 10th floor restaurant’s private dining room, where the dining experience will take place.
