Artist 83y0nd lands at Hastings Pier with Climate Change Protest

Anonymous artist 83y0nd draws crowds on Hastings beach with a guerrilla activation titled ‘ 83y0nd The Sea’ which highlights the potential implications of global warming and protests the government’s unworkable and inhumane Rwanda plan to stop migration.
The installation arrived for Endangered Species Day and features a refugee dinghy filled with migrant Emperor penguins in life jackets looking for sanctuary, only to be greeted by a life-size Rishi Sunak denying them entry to the UK. The climate crisis is central to 83y0nd’s work. Climate change has serious implications for humans and animals alike, one being climate-caused migration on a global scale.

83y0nd comments, “With the Conservative government and Labour opposition both trashing their climate commitments with recent U-turns on their green pledges, what are the long-term plans to deal with the very real threat of global warming and its implications?  Is this policy nothing more than an expensive, distracting political stunt, violating the humanity of asylum seekers and not solving the overlapping crises it claims to? If so, have Conservative policies failed to address the British public’s needs again?”

Who is 83y0nd?

“83y0nd is an exciting, disruptive, and anonymous artist. Work includes everything from creative guerilla installations to fine art spanning paintings, sculptures, and digital creations.  83y0nd is not about disrupting everyday life, it’s about creating art that sends a unifying message. Art that seems playful on the surface but has darker undertones exploring the gravity of the circumstances we find ourselves in today. 83y0nd aims to represent the concerns of many and speak up for those who are unable to fight for themselves, whether human, animal or the environment.”
To coincide with this activation 83y0nd is offering a limited edition run of 20 signed prints at www.83y0nd.world to raise money and awareness for The Global Penguin Society with all proceeds donated.
