Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Gabry Ponte needs no introduction to fans of dance music. As a founding member of Eiffel 65, the Italian superstar rose to global fame with the iconic anthem “Blue (Da Ba Dee).” Since then, he has continued to dominate the electronic music scene, collaborating with top artists and performing worldwide. Fresh off the announcement of his headline show at London’s Electric Brixton on 1st March 2025 and his upcoming groundbreaking SAN SIRO DANCE event at Milan’s 80,000-capacity San Siro Stadium, Gabry Ponte is set to make 2025 a year to remember. We caught up with him ahead of his highly anticipated London performance to talk about his career, creativity, and what fans can expect next.

Welcome to London, Gabry! What excites you the most about performing here, especially in front of such a diverse and energetic crowd?

London’s energy is unmatched. The crowd here brings a unique vibe and is always ready to go hard. Performing in a city with such a deep connection to electronic music makes this show feel so special.

Your career spans decades, from Eiffel 65 to your solo projects. How has your sound evolved over the years, and how do you stay inspired to create fresh beats?

Over the years, my sound has grown with me. But honestly, it’s the audience that keeps me constantly updated. When I play in clubs, I see the excitement around certain tracks compared to others. Nowadays, social media also plays a crucial role in identifying the trends of the moment.

Your track “Blue (Da Ba Dee)” is iconic and has influenced generations. How does it feel to see its lasting impact on pop culture?

It’s surreal. Seeing it still resonate after all these years and keep producing remixes, TikToks, interpolations. It’s humbling. The track has a life of its own now, and I’m just proud it continues to pull out memories in so many people.

London is known for its rich electronic music scene. How do you feel your style fits into the city’s vibrant nightlife culture?

London is bold, dynamic, and constantly evolving and I think is kinda similar to my career. Whether it’s deep club cuts or big festival moments, I bring the vibes London thrives on.

When crafting a setlist for a show like this, do you lean on nostalgia, new tracks, or a mix of both to keep the crowd hyped?

It’s always a mix. Nostalgia brings people together, but fresh tracks keep the energy alive and unpredictable. When I perform, I aim to take the crowd on a journey—familiar moments they love, blended with surprises. I love experimenting and introducing them to something new.

Collaboration has been a big part of your career. Are there any British artists or DJs you’d love to team up with?

I’ve worked with various English artists in the past, such as Sigala, and I’m definitely looking forward to collaborating with more English musicians and DJs in the future.

What’s your creative process like in the studio? Do you follow a set formula, or is it more about going with the flow?

It’s more about going with the flow, letting the energy and inspiration in the moment guide me. Every session is different, and I like to stay open to experimenting and seeing where the creativity takes me

The dance music scene is constantly evolving. What trends or changes in the industry excite you the most right now?

I’m loving the revival of classic sounds with modern production. It’s cool to see old-school vibes, like 90s synths or breakbeats, making a comeback in fresh, creative ways.

Outside of music, what inspires your artistry? Do London’s culture or experiences influence your work?

Absolutely. London’s culture is a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, which I find incredibly inspiring. Just walking through the streets and feeling the buzz of the city puts me in a creative mood. I absolutely love being there.

Finally, for your fans in Shoreditch and beyond, what can they expect from your upcoming performance? Any surprises you can tease?

Expect energy. I’m bringing tracks you know, but mostly unreleased ones… so yeah lots of surprises as long as I don’t tease them haha! London deserves something special, and I can’t wait to bring it to life.
