Where We Meet: An Immersive Dance Experience Merging Tech and Movement

London’s performance scene is evolving. Where We Meet, an immersive dance theatre experience, is set to redefine audience interaction using extended reality (XR) technology. Running from 28th February to 2nd March 2025 at The Cockpit, this Unwired Dance Theatre production offers a deeply personal and interactive journey into human connection.

Step Into the Minds of the Performers

This performance is unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Audience members step into the thoughts of three distinct characters using custom-designed headsets and spatial audio. As spectators move closer to the dancers, they unlock inner monologues, revealing personal emotions and unspoken narratives.

The performance introduces three unique characters:

Becki, a social butterfly seeking real connections.

Adam, a perfectionist questioning the meaning of success.

Faith, a self-critic learning self-acceptance.

These stories were inspired by real-life conversations and translated into movement. Dancers adapt their choreography in real-time, responding to the presence of the audience. This interaction-based storytelling ensures no two performances are the same.

Two Ways to Experience the Performance

Where We Meet offers two ticket types, allowing audiences to choose their level of engagement:

The Immersive Explorer: Wear a headset and tracker, move freely, and interact with characters for a fully immersive journey.

The Compassionate Observer: Remain seated with headphones and a tablet, experiencing the show in a more relaxed way.

This flexibility makes it one of London’s most accessible and engaging immersive dance experiences.

Technology That Enhances Connection

Using motion capture, XR technology, and spatial audio, Unwired Dance Theatre blends digital innovation with human storytelling. This production doesn’t just rely on technology—it uses it to enhance genuine audience-performer connection.

Unlike standard VR experiences, this performance allows real-life movement and interaction to influence the outcome. Every moment is shaped by the audience, making them an active part of the story.

A Creative Vision That Breaks Boundaries

Led by Artistic Director and Creative Technologist Clemence Debaig, Unwired Dance Theatre is known for pushing the limits of dance and technology. Working alongside Co-Director and Wellbeing Coach Livia Massarelli, the team has crafted a show that goes beyond performance—it fosters empathy and understanding.

Adding a fresh energy to the production, hip-hop dancer Ryan Naiken expands the movement vocabulary, blending urban styles with contemporary dance.

For lovers of immersive theatre, contemporary dance, and interactive storytelling, Where We Meet is a must-see. Every show is unique, shaped by audience interaction and powered by cutting-edge wearable technology.
