A sonic journey through glitch, ambience, and immersive textures launches at All Is Joy, Soho
Electronic music has its rebels, and then there’s Wonky Plonky Electronk—an experimental force that thrives on pushing the boundaries of sound. On February 20th, this pioneering collective is dropping ‘The Wonky Sessions: Volume 1’, a genre-defying compilation of glitch-laden, synth-heavy, and mind-altering sonic textures from some of the UK’s most boundary-pushing artists.
To celebrate, they’re throwing a launch night at All Is Joy in Soho, featuring performances from Scanner, Dhangsha, Mieko Shimizu, Shape Navigator, and DJ Winter (Wrangler). If you’re into music that challenges the norm, this is one for the books.
A New Wave of Experimental Sound
This debut compilation album is no casual playlist. It’s a collection of meticulously crafted soundscapes, featuring artists who have made waves at Wonky Plonky Electronk events across London, Margate, Ramsgate, and Brighton. With Mieko Shimizu, Dhangsha, Shape Navigator, Analogue Mechanic, and the late Gagarin at the helm, the record offers an unpredictable but cohesive journey through electronic experimentation.
Opening with Mieko Shimizu’s ‘Space Colony Death’, the album instantly submerges you in a dystopian, glitch-heavy world of swirling synths and urgent beats. Then comes Dhangsha’s ‘Elbit Crushed’, a track brimming with raw energy and pulsating rhythms. Gagarin’s ‘Margate Illuminati’ offers an atmospheric interlude, drawing the listener into a hypnotic haze before Shape Navigator’s synth explorations take over. Finally, Analogue Mechanic’s ‘Syntony PM’ wraps it all up in a meditative, ambient soundscape—like the soundtrack to a dream you don’t want to wake up from.
A Tribute to Gagarin – A True Sonic Pioneer
This first release from Wonky Plonky Electronk comes with a bittersweet note. The album is dedicated to Gagarin (Graham ‘Dids’ Dowdall), a fearless sonic explorer whose impact on experimental music remains profound. His passing last year left a void in the scene, but his work continues to inspire. ‘The Wonky Sessions: Volume 1’ stands as a testament to his legacy—an artist who saw music as boundless and uncontainable.
A Wonky Night at All Is Joy, Soho

Known for its unconventional, immersive atmosphere, this venue—set inside the former Warner Bros. cinema—perfectly matches Wonky’s offbeat, creative spirit.
The night’s lineup is stacked, featuring:
