Never Return to Paradise (a re-imagining of The Flamingos by Henri Rousseau)

Illusive Art Collective 83y0nd Brings ‘Paradise Lost’ to London—A Dystopian Beachscape You Won’t Forget

London’s art scene is no stranger to the provocative, but 83y0nd’s new exhibition ‘Paradise Lost’ takes immersive installations to another level. Opening on March 27th, 2025, at The Farsight Gallery, this thought-provoking showcase transforms the space into a surreal, dystopian beachscape—blurring the line between beauty and destruction.

With a signature blend of fine art, sculpture, sound design, and immersive theatre, 83y0nd challenges perceptions and forces viewers to confront humanity’s impact on the natural world.

A Dystopian Beach Like No Other

‘Paradise Lost’ isn’t your typical gallery stroll. Step inside and find yourself on a beach that looks eerily familiar—until you realise the palm trees are made of discarded tyres. Actors lounge under the artificial sun, pulling trash from coolers and tossing it carelessly onto the sand. A ‘beach cleaner’ scurries to collect the litter, only for a modified bin to eject it back out—symbolising the relentless cycle of pollution.

If that doesn’t make you rethink your seaside holiday, perhaps the refreshments will. Guests are offered resin lollipops encasing real trash—a bold reminder that pollution is everywhere, even in places we least expect it.

The installation features 16 striking paintings, set within the immersive landscape, reinforcing the message through 83y0nd’s distinctive ‘Newer Objectivity’ style—a contemporary take on confronting modern realities.

Art With a Purpose: A Call to Action

This isn’t just an art exhibition; it’s a wake-up call. Every piece of trash used in ‘Paradise Lost’ has been collected from UK beaches and nature spots, making the consequences of pollution impossible to ignore.

This exhibition follows 83y0nd’s guerrilla installation on Hastings beach, ‘83y0nd The Sea’, which coincided with Endangered Species Day 2024. That piece highlighted the devastating effects of global warming and wasteful government spending. Now, ‘Paradise Lost’ continues the conversation—urging us to reconsider our role in environmental destruction.

Why You Can’t Miss This Exhibit

83y0nd has mastered the art of making people uncomfortable in the best way possible. Their work is disruptive, yet undeniably beautiful. By drawing viewers into an immersive experience, they make sure the message lingers long after you leave.

‘Paradise Lost’ is more than just an exhibition; it’s a challenge to see beyond the surface, question our impact, and, ultimately, rethink our habits.
