The Blues Kitchen Shoreditch Brings Improvised Jazz & Soul to Sunday Nights

Shoreditch’s Ultimate Improv Jazz Night Takes Over Sundays at The Blues Kitchen

Sunday nights in Shoreditch just got a serious upgrade. The Blues Kitchen, already legendary for its live music and Southern-inspired vibes, is turning its much-loved improv jazz night into a weekly ritual. Starting Sunday, 6th April, In The Pocket will take over Sundays from 9PM, bringing an electrifying mix of live jazz, soul, R&B, and hip-hop—and the best part? It’s completely free.

Live Jazz, Soul, and a Stage Open to All

Londoners love a good jam session, and In The Pocket is where it all comes together. Led by multi-instrumentalist Solomon Douglas, the night kicks off with an improvised set by The Blues Kitchen’s insanely talented house band. Expect everything from Miles Davis-inspired brass to Amy Winehouse-style grooves—and maybe even a little Ezra Collective energy thrown in for good measure.

But here’s where things get even better: the open call segment. Musicians, singers, and anyone feeling brave enough can hop on stage and join the magic. Whether you’re a pro or just vibing, this is your chance to perform with some of London’s finest musicians.

Cocktails, Bourbon, and a Sunday Wind-Down Like No Other

A night of live music needs a strong supporting act—and The Blues Kitchen’s signature cocktails and bourbon menu do not disappoint. Pair the music with a Burnt Pear Old Fashioned, a refreshing Ginger Mojito, or go for something with a kick like the Spicy Margarita. If you need something smooth, the Lychee Martini or a classic Paloma will hit the spot.

Why In The Pocket is Shoreditch’s New Sunday Essential

Shoreditch isn’t short of nightlife, but In The Pocket brings something different, raw, and unfiltered to the scene. It’s not just another gig night—it’s a community-driven jam session where anything can happen. It’s the perfect Sunday night mix of laid-back energy and spontaneous brilliance, whether you’re on stage or just soaking it all in.
