Sommer Ray Talks Music, Vibes, and Making ‘LaLaLa’ a Summer 2025 Anthem

Sommer Ray with over 30 million followers across social media has already conquered the worlds of fitness, fashion, and Instagram fame—but now, she’s coming for your speakers. Her debut single ‘LaLaLa (Everybody’s Up)’ (HEDEGAARD Edit) is a pulsing, brat-pop-meets-bassline explosion built for festival stages and sweaty 2AM dance floors. With her larger-than-life personality and an unmistakable flair for fun, Sommer’s new era as a DJ and recording artist is off to a thunderous start.

What inspired you to make the leap from fitness and fashion icon to DJ and recording artist?

I’ve always loved music, it’s been part of my energy, my workouts, my mindset. Fitness and fashion are about expressing yourself, and music is just another level of that. I wanted to challenge myself creatively, step into a new space, and bring people along for the ride. It’s not about leaving one world behind, it’s about expanding who I am and showing different sides of myself!

‘LaLaLa (Everybody’s Up)’ is pure party energy. What was the vibe you wanted to create with this track?

I wanted it to feel like the moment when everyone lets go. No overthinking, no stress, just fun. That carefree, dance-until-sunrise vibe. Whether you’re out with friends or dancing in your room, I wanted it to feel like a release, like you’re right in the middle of the best night ever.

HEDEGAARD brought his signature sound to the edit—how did that collaboration come together?

I’ve been a fan of HEDEGAARD for a while – his sound is so sharp. We both wanted to make something that hits hard on the dancefloor, not just something you’d play in the car. It was all about bringing that raw, late-night energy to life. Working together felt easy and fun, like we were both chasing the same vibe.

Your fans are used to seeing you run the digital space. How does it feel now commanding the dancefloor IRL?

Honestly, it’s unreal. Connecting with people online is one thing, but when you’re in the room and feel the bass hit and see everyone jumping and singing back to you… it’s a whole different rush. It makes everything more personal, more alive. I’m addicted to that feeling now!

You’ve worked with heavy-hitters like Martin Jensen. What draws you to a collaborator in music?

For me, it’s about vibe and vision. I love working with people who bring a unique sound but also want to push boundaries and have fun with it. I’m drawn to collaborators who are open, creative, and not afraid to experiment.

This track screams summer anthem. Where’s your dream place to hear it played—club, beach, or festival stage?

For me, it’s the club, no question. I picture it in a dark, packed room with the lights low, the bass shaking the floor, and everyone fully lost in the music. It’s the kind of track that’s made for late nights, where you can just let go and dance without thinking. That’s where it really comes alive.

You’ve got a massive global following. How do you keep your creative work fun and unfiltered in an industry that loves to polish everything?

I try to remind myself that real is always more powerful than perfect. I never want to lose that connection with my fans, they’ve grown with me because I’ve always kept it authentic. When I’m creating, I focus on what feels right to me, not what’s “expected.” That’s how I keep it fun and stay true to who I am.

If you were throwing a Shoreditch-style party to celebrate ‘LaLaLa,’ what would it look like—and who’s on the guest list?

Ohh it would be wild! I’m talking neon lights, underground vibes, dancers everywhere, surprise DJ sets, and maybe even a piercing station? As for the guest list… my ride-or-die friends, my amazing fans (of course), and all the artists and creators who inspire me.
