East London’s public saunas range from a not-for-profit bathhouse in Hackney Wick to a Russian banya in Hoxton and a floating sauna in Canary Wharf. Prices start at about £11 a head for a shared private booking and rise to £50 for a two-hour banya session. Opening times and prices below were taken from each venue’s own booking pages in October 2026.

Community Sauna Baths, Hackney Wick and Stratford

Community Sauna Baths is a not-for-profit with its main site at Eastway Baths, 80 Eastway, Hackney Wick, E9 5JH. It opens on Mondays from 6pm to 9.30pm, Tuesday to Friday from 7am to 9.30pm, and at weekends from 8am to 9.30pm. A one-hour weekend session costs £13.50 and 90 minutes costs £17.40. Prices rose by 5.5 per cent from 1 June 2026.

A second site is at The Lighthouse & Gardens on Penny Brookes Street, Stratford, E20 1BL.

Banya No.1, Hoxton

Banya No.1 at 17 Micawber Street, Hoxton, is a Russian-style banya, the steam bath built around a very hot, wet room and a cold plunge. It opens daily from 9.30am to 10.30pm. Public sessions start at £35 for an hour and a half, and two hours costs £50.

Sauna & Plunge, Tabernacle Street

The closest public sauna to Shoreditch’s bars is Sauna & Plunge at 124 Tabernacle Street, EC2A 4SA, a few minutes from Old Street station. It has Finnish and infrared saunas, a steam room and cold plunge pools. A 30-minute session costs £30.

Rooftop Saunas, Hackney

Rooftop Saunas runs private sessions at Netil Corner, 2 Bocking Street, E8 4RU, near London Fields. Bookings are for the whole sauna, so the price per person falls as the group grows. A 30-minute off-peak slot for four people works out at £11 each.

Skuna sauna boat and Arc, Canary Wharf

Skuna’s floating sauna is moored at West India Quay, off Hertsmere Road, E14 4AL. Shared sessions start at £15 on off-peak weekdays. Private 75-minute hire of the small sauna costs £120 on weekdays and £150 at weekends. Made in Shoreditch covered the Skuna sauna boat on World Sauna Day in 2025.

Arc Community, underground at Unit 46, Minus Level 2, 1 Crossrail Place, E14 5AR, runs sauna classes from £29.

York Hall’s spa is closed until 2027

The Be Well spa at York Hall in Bethnal Green has been closed since 15 July 2026 because of a problem with its water supply. Be Well and the East London Advertiser say it is expected to reopen in January 2027.

Members’ clubs and hotel spas

Searches for an infrared sauna at Shoreditch House are common. Shoreditch House on Ebor Street is a private members’ club, so its facilities are not open to the public. Sauna & Plunge on Tabernacle Street is the nearest pay-as-you-go venue with an infrared sauna.

Before you book
