Harry Milas, the Sydney-born magician whose show The Unfair Advantage ran at @sohoplace in the West End last year, will perform a new show in The Ditch, the rooms beneath Shoreditch Town Hall, from Friday 20 November to Friday 11 December.
Harry Milas: Magic In The Ditch is directed by Patrick Marber, the playwright and Tony Award winner. Tickets cost £20. Shows start at 7.30pm, with an extra 2.30pm matinee on Saturday 5 December, and run for 1 hour 45 minutes including an interval. It is for ages 12 and over.
A show two years in the making
The venue describes the show as an intimate, immersive work in progress with sleight of hand, feats of memory and what Milas calls dangerous stunts.
“This is by far the biggest and most ambitious show I’ve ever made,” Milas said in the announcement. “It’s an evening of unique magic, rich storytelling and dangerous stunts, and one of them has taken me two years to get to the point where I can perform it in front of an audience. The Ditch is exactly the right room to do it for the first time.”
From card sharps to security teams
As a boy, Milas studied the methods of card sharps and con artists, according to the venue. He became good enough to train security teams to catch the cheats he admired, a job the listing says he now regrets.
The Unfair Advantage, his previous show, seated its audience around a table on the fifth floor of @sohoplace from August to October 2025.
“Harry’s show, The Unfair Advantage was one of my favourite theatre experiences last year,” Marber said. “I’m really thrilled to be working with him on this new work in progress.”
The designer is Isabella Van Braeckel, with sound and music by Sarah Spencer and Nathan Wilson as magic consultant. The show is produced by Barbary Bry and Neil Senturia. Shoreditch Town Hall lists it as an independent hire, outside its own programme.
