Photography often captures reality, or morphs a collection of things existing in reality. But what happens when photography and drawing – two very different mediums – come together?

Lucas Levitan, a Brazilian multimedia artist based in London, uses illustrations to invade photographs. In his series “Photo Invasion,” he “steals” photos and adds an illustrative element to it. Posting them all on his Instragram, the art pieces have a cartoonish quality and almost mock the subject in the photograph.

Levitan views the world in a playful way and is inspired by the everyday. He tries to turn the mundane into intriguing images by crossing various tools, which comes across in his work.
