Marcelo Daldoce, artist and painter, brings life to a flat surface in each of his pieces. Orignally from Brazil, Daldoce currently resides in New York City where he combines the art of folding paper with his painting skills. Watercolor is the medium of choice for this rising artist. His images come to life with the watermarked strokes of each color. Most of his current work features his watercolor talents in large portraits. His folded work gives the viewer an opportunity to take in the depth of the image. The added layer of folds shows the image of the person trapped between the paper. Each figure is trapped in something that can be represented as a problem in their old life, looking for ways to break out of the folds. These images combined with the paint work well create a piece of art that keeps the viewer looking for more. Outside of painting, Daldoce opened up an illustration studio called MACACOLÂNDIA that he co-founded with three friends. He is offering workshops in New York City related to watercolor art for budding artists.
