Explosive movements are captured through dance

Dancers move through space cutting the air, uneffected by their intensity, with their elegant movements. Photographer Alexander Yakovlev saw the relationship between their movements and the air that they existed in, and decided to explore that intensity by using powder.

Each photograph captures a dancer’s motion caught in time with an explosion of white powder across their body. Their stunning beauty is portrayed in a dream-like existence traveling both space and time. Yakovlev’s description of his piece is “It is a good viewpoint to see the world as a dream.” This idea is portrayed effortlessly in the otherworldly depiction of dancers and how their movements are untouched by imperfection.
