GIFs are used across the internet. If you open any form of social media, you’ll find some sort of animation whether it be from your favorite movie, politician or television show.
Artist Said Dagdeviren took this format and used it to make art. His stunning images are transformed into lively animations. He took animals from varying habitats and laid their environment over the image of their figure. Each GIF has an individual story speaking to the impact the environment has on any creature, no matter if they are a human, bear, crocodile, etc. He then showed the figures with their land getting destroyed by industrialization.
Dagdeviren uses his GIF art to speak to the importance of conserving the environment and does so in a format that is easily accessible to online users.
