This season, Skylight, one of the city’s favorite rooftop destinations, is expanding its offering this festive season to create an unforgettable winter experience in London. It is with the utmost delight that Skylight Christmas at Tobacco Dock welcomes the return of the rooftop ice rink as well as plenty more festive eating and drinking experiences both sky-high and at ground level across the Grade-I listed warehouses and cobbled lanes of Tobacco Dock.
On top of being Europe’s only rooftop ice skating experience, this iconic venue and event space will host a panoramic Igloo Village, Après Ski Lodge bar, an Off-Piste Speakeasy bar, and Christmas Cocktail Cinema. These exciting additions, all of which can be enjoyed separately or as a full day or evening package makes Skylight Christmas at Tobacco Dock a one-stop destination for festive fun.
Two Igloo Villages will be available (one which is already open up on Skylight Rooftop), providing incredible views across the city’s skyline, and other X20 igloos down on the cobbled Canalside in Tobacco Dock opening from the 2nd of December. Each igloo sits groups of up to 10 who can enjoy delicious cocktails, sharing platters and street food from an Alpine-inspired food menu. Warmed with mini heaters, these igloo bubbles come with warming welcome drinks, awesome alpine-inspired decor, featuring faux-fur rugs, and thick blankets for extra coziness. Guests can also take advantage of full table service and dedicated food and drink offerings.
For those looking for some festive escapism, the Christmas Cocktail Cinema will be showing back-to-back classic Christmas movies throughout the run. The cinema will be an adults-only experience and will serve delicious themed cocktails and gourmet snacks to ensure an unforgettable movie experience. Guests can enjoy refreshments before the film begins and also during an interval. Film showings confirmed so far include Home Alone 1 and 2, Love Actually, The Holiday, Last Holiday, Bad Santa, A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, Die Hard, and Bridget Jones’ Diary.
Guests and cinema visitors can also enjoy Off-Piste – a secret speakeasy cocktail experience with exposed-brick walls and burnished copper wall fittings, creating an intimate space. Off-Piste offers a special 75-minute introduction session, ‘Ski School’, which is the perfect way for guests to kick-start their Skylight Christmas Experience, before heading to an igloo later on. There will also be some general admission seating, where guests can enjoy a la carte cocktail ordering.
The Après Ski Lodge is themed around a mountain chalet and located on Skylight Rooftop’s lower level, complete with low-lit benched seating, fully-decorated Christmas trees, and snug sheepskins. Skylight Rooftop will also continue to play host to a wealth of sheltered and heated seating, a firm favorite for those looking to soak up the views with friends.
To ensure a smooth visit, Skylight will offer an on-site concierge service, where guests can book various experiences and add-ons whilst they’re at the venue.
The venue is also perfect for corporate bookings and can accommodate groups from 20-600.
