There are so many reasons why I love Shoreditch: the braggards, the hipsters, the charity mums, the Sunday flower market jaunters. Shoreditch is not just a pastiche; it is a living organism that with every day awakes, kicking and screaming to life, reminding the world of what a unique, if somewhat troublesome child it is.
Looking to the north City of London star! People busy, lights flashing, loud noise.
A burst of aromas in the air, where the crossroads meet. From the old skool vintage to the new age fashion rebel. Just classic!
What else can I say? Shoreditch! There. I said it.
Just waiting to arrive from Liverpool street bitting my finger nails with excitement, craving that night life and the pounding tunes.
Shoreditch is to me the main inspiration in terms of art, music and fashion. For the past few years, every Londoner has taken something from it, was inspired by it, or has wanted to live there. If you are an art fanatic, and love installations, you can try a new exhibition every Thursday, and wonder at some different ranges of arts, some amazing and some not-yet ready, and broaden your experience of modern art. After all, modern art started over a century ago, so we need to keep updated.
A start-up with humble roots (in the CEO’s bedroom to be precise), Floxx recently made the move to an office in the Shoreditch area. One of the reasons for the move was to be nearer to the ‘Silicon Roundabout’, the nickname for the lively tech scene centred around the Old Street roundabout. The ‘Ditch didn’t disappoint, and we soon found ourselves immersed in the vibrant tech scene.
All forms of life pass by my window. The street-cool kids heading for a trendy 'blitz'-feel night-out with the likes of Princess Julia - who I often see tottering past. The 'crusty' man and his dog who sit outside Tesco Metro asking for spare change. The hordes as they walk to Victoria Park for a summer festival to be repeatedly rained upon. The cyclists in Critical Mass as they pass by on a Friday night. Mums with small kids heading to the City Farm with excited or crying toddlers.
To say I love Shoreditch is putting it lightly. Shoreditch and its many offerings were, and always will be my one true love. All the people, sights and sounds to fill my every possible need.Walking around in what at times feels like a living organism, with art on every corner in the form of public sculptures and graffiti.
It was one of those nights. You know the ones I mean – the ones where you’re not exactly sure where you went and what you did, but you know you had fun and didn’t do anything too heinous. It had also been a date night, and at 1 AM the date in question was still hanging on my arm, so I guess it couldn’t have been a total failure; that’s when a guy comes up to us, with a friend behind him videotaping the proceedings and another holding a box.
