The Art of Serendipity by Jordan Matter

Danceworks London is hosting a star in dance photography this July 7 at their studios. Jordan Matter, photographer and author of the New York Times best-selling photography book Dancers Among Us, will visit UK for the first time to lead a special workshop. Photographers of all skills should show up at 12, cameras ready, to follow Matter and a group of professional dancers around Central London and practice their dance photography. There will also be some work done in one of the Dancework’s studios.

It will be an adventure both for the photographers and the dancers. They will be working outside in many environments, learning the details of natural light and serendipity. The workshop is specifically called “The Art of Serendipity” and will explore storytelling through movement and chance. Matter will teach the small group the technical and philosophical approach of his work.

This special occasion is the only workshop Matter will teach on his tour for Dancers After Dark, his new book. This new project is taking him to Montreal and now London. The shots for this book will focus on the contrast of light and dark, showcasing the dancers’ bodies in unusual night settings.
