Old Street station sits at the top of Shoreditch, where City Road, Old Street and Great Eastern Street meet. Its own shops are empty: the retail units in the refurbished underground concourse had still not been let in October 2026, two years after the £132m rebuild of the junction, The Londoner reported. Nincomsoup, the soup bar that traded there, left in 2021.

The nearest shopping is a walk away, south and east down Great Eastern Street, Curtain Road and Tabernacle Street towards Shoreditch High Street. This guide lists shops checked against their own websites and booking pages in October 2026, and the well-known names that have moved since older guides were written.

Clothes

Carhartt WIP, 140 Shoreditch High Street, E1 6JE. The workwear-turned-streetwear label’s Shoreditch store. Open 11am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.

shop.allenreji, 98 Curtain Road, EC2A 3AF. A small second-hand and designer archive clothing shop. It opens on a few days a week only, from midday on Wednesday and Saturday and from 1pm on Sunday, according to its booking page, so check before making the trip.

Hostem, 41 to 43 Redchurch Street, E2. Designer menswear and womenswear over several floors, a longer walk south-east past Shoreditch High Street. Listings give 11am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and midday to 5pm on Sunday.

For the rest of Redchurch Street, Brick Lane vintage and the markets, see the full Shoreditch shopping guide and the vintage shops guide.

Records

Love Vinyl, 5 Pearson Street, E2 8JD. A record shop selling new and second-hand vinyl, closer to Hoxton station than to Old Street but walkable up Kingsland Road. Record-shop listings give Tuesday to Sunday opening and Mondays closed.

Old Street Records, at 350 to 356 Old Street, is a common wrong turn: despite the name, it is a bar with live music and DJs, not a record shop. It opens from 5pm Monday to Friday and from 2pm on Saturday, and is closed on Sunday.

Bikes

tokyobike, 87 to 89 Tabernacle Street, EC2A 4BA. The Japanese bike brand’s London shop sells its lightweight city bikes and accessories and offers servicing. It is a few minutes’ walk south of the station. Open 11am to 6.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 11am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

For repairs and walk-in workshops, see bike repair in Shoreditch.

Moved or closed

  • Goodhood left 151 Curtain Road in May 2024 for a larger shop at 15 Hanbury Street, E1 6QR, off Brick Lane. Open 11am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 6pm on Sunday.
  • SCP, the furniture and design shop, has moved from 135 to 139 Curtain Road to 16 Clerkenwell Green, EC1, which opened in August 2026. Open 9.30am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.
  • Artwords, the art and design bookshop, has closed its Rivington Street branch. Its shop at 20 to 22 Broadway Market, E8, is still open.

Getting there

Old Street station is on the Northern line (Bank branch) and on the Great Northern line into Moorgate. Shoreditch High Street station on the Overground is closer to Carhartt WIP and Redchurch Street, and Hoxton station is closest to Love Vinyl.
