Old Spitalfields Market is a covered market on Commercial Street, five minutes’ walk from Liverpool Street station. It is open every day of the year except Christmas Day. What is on sale changes through the week, with antiques on Thursdays and records on two Fridays a month.
Opening times
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 10am to 6pm
- Thursday: 8am to 6pm
- Saturday: 10am to 6pm
- Sunday: 10am to 5pm
The food hall, The Kitchens, opens at 11am and closes at 6pm, or 5pm on Sundays. The market’s own visitor page gives a 6pm close on weekdays, while the footer of its website shows 8pm, so assume 6pm for the stalls. Shops around the market set their own hours.
What is on each day
Thursday: antiques and vintage
Thursday is the antiques and vintage market, which opens early at 8am. It has more than 80 stalls selling vintage art, maps, furniture, homeware, jewellery and clothes. It is the best day for collectors.
First and third Friday: the vinyl market
The vinyl market runs on the first and third Friday of each month, from 10am to 5pm. It has been running for more than 25 years.
Wednesday and the last weekend of the month: Urban Makers
Urban Makers runs a guest market of independent makers every Wednesday and on the last weekend of each month, on the Lamb Street side of the market. Its remaining 2026 weekend dates are 24 and 25 October and 28 and 29 November.
Other days
On the other days the daily market has a mix of fashion, crafts, art and gifts, alongside the permanent shops.
