Olivia Dean will play a one-off show at Hackney Church on Wednesday 18 November 2026 to raise money for You Make It, an East London charity that supports young, working-class Black and Brown women into careers.
There is no general sale. The only way to get in is a prize draw on Crowdfunder, where £10 buys one entry for a chance to win a pair of standing tickets. Every penny goes to the charity, which is marking 15 years of work.
The evening, called Love, You Make It, will combine conversation and spoken word with a stripped-back set from Dean. The campaign page says her album The Art of Loving was inspired by bell hooks’ book All About Love, which treats love as something learned and practised.
How the draw works
There are 600 pairs of tickets, split between two draws. The Early Access Draw for the first 300 pairs took every entry made between 6pm on Monday 19 October and 6pm on Tuesday 20 October, UK time. The Main Draw for the other 300 pairs includes every entry made while the draw is open, plus Early Access entries that did not win.
- £10 buys one entry, £20 two entries, £50 five and £100 ten
- There is no limit on entries, but each person can win only once
- Entry is open to residents of the UK, EU and EEA aged 18 and over
- The draw closes at 11.59pm GMT on Tuesday 3 November 2026
- Winners are contacted by email from 10am GMT on Wednesday 4 November and must confirm within five days
- Tickets are non-transferable and winners must show photo ID matching the name on the ticket
The draw is run by Broadwick Live on behalf of the charity. A free postal entry route is set out in the terms and conditions, and a limited number of accessible tickets are kept for winners with access needs.
By the evening of 20 October, the campaign had raised £68,240 of its £100,000 target from 3,836 supporters.
What Olivia Dean and You Make It said
“Black and Brown women deserve to have their voices heard and their talents appreciated across our creative industries. We are magical and powerful!” Dean said in the campaign announcement. “YMI’s presence and their support of the women that need it is essential and I’m so happy I can be a part of this evening that can help continue the important work they do.”
Asma Shah, the charity’s founder and chief executive, said in a statement published by Mixtape Madness: “Right now, funders are saying no to almost everything, and the backlash against inclusion is growing.” She added: “Olivia, Emily (her manager) and their team have given us a lifeline that we needed to continue this work.”
About You Make It
You Make It has been running since 2011. More than 700 women have been through its 16-week programme, which includes one-to-one mentoring and therapy, work experience in the fields they want to enter and group learning. The charity says grant applications are being turned down at a time when youth unemployment is at its highest since 2013.
