A rooftop restaurant and bar called 18th Floor opens for dinner on Thursday 29 October at The Gantry, the hotel on Celebration Avenue in Stratford, after a soft launch that began on 24 October.
The restaurant sits 18 storeys up and has open-air terraces, private dining rooms and views across east London. It is a joint venture between East Coast Concepts, which runs the Victors and Neighbourhood bars and restaurants at six UK sites, and D3 Collective, the company founded by Des Gunewardena.
The menu
The kitchen cooks British meat and seafood. According to the menu details released by the operators, dishes include whole grilled Scottish lobster and steaks from fillet to New York strip, plus larger cuts meant for sharing: a 900g tomahawk, a 900g porterhouse and a 650g côte de boeuf. The Gantry’s own page also lists sushi.
The wine list was put together by Giuseppe Lacona, D3 Collective’s head sommelier, who has worked at Coq d’Argent and Pétrus by Gordon Ramsay. It leans on Argentine malbec, Tuscan reds and Bordeaux and Napa Valley cabernets, with a long Champagne list.
Davide Mangiamele, D3’s head of bars, wrote the cocktail list. HAL News reports that it includes a brown butter-washed bourbon with roasted pear.
Music and hours
DJs play R&B, soul and house every Friday and Saturday, with a live saxophonist on the terraces. A wider live music programme is due to be announced later this year.
The restaurant opens from 3pm to midnight on weekdays, from noon to midnight on Saturdays and from noon to 10pm on Sundays. The operators describe it as the first stage of plans for the hotel’s rooftop, with more to be announced in 2027.
D3 Collective’s other London venues include Engel and Jang at the Royal Exchange in the City, and Idalia and Pepperbird at Pillar Hall in Olympia.
