Yokimono, a market of Japanese makers and food businesses, is holding an autumn sample sale at The Factory on Shacklewell Lane in Dalston on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November.

The organiser’s listing says more than 30 Japanese small businesses will trade on each day, many of which rarely hold sales. Entry is free, and the sale runs from 11am to 5pm on both days.

The market has run since 2019, according to London On The Inside. Its name means “good things” in Japanese. It is curated by Furuki Yo-Kimono Vintage, a vintage kimono dealer.

What is on sale

Stallholders listed by the organiser sell ceramics, vintage kimono and folk objects, prints and illustration, jewellery, kanzashi hair accessories, books and records. Sample pieces and surplus stock will be sold alongside regular ranges.

Food stalls on the list include fruit mochi, Japanese curry bread, onigiri and teriyaki chicken buns, with matcha from tencha.ldn and sparkling sake from The Sparkling Sake Brewery. London On The Inside also lists sushi, oden and Japanese-flavoured ice cream.

Some stalls will give free gifts with purchases, and the independent shops based at The Factory will run their own offers that weekend, the organiser says. The event is family friendly, and dogs on leads are allowed.

Visitors can register for free through the organiser’s Eventbrite page.
