Dust & Grooves Vol. 2: Further Adventures in Record Collecting is a photobook by the photographer Eilon Paz about people who collect vinyl records. It was published on 15 October 2024 by Dust & Grooves Editions, ten years after the first volume. The book runs to 650 pages, is edited by David Ma and has a foreword by Prince Paul, the producer behind De La Soul’s Three Feet High and Rising.
Who is in it
Vol. 2 features more than 150 collectors, from everyday enthusiasts to musicians and DJs. Across both volumes they include Four Tet, Questlove, the jazz bassist Ron Carter, Floating Points, Peanut Butter Wolf of Stones Throw Records, Nabihah Iqbal and the family of the late BBC DJ John Peel. Other collectors in the new book include Fred Schneider of the B-52s, Gerd Janson, Alex Paterson of The Orb and Kevin Cole of the Seattle station KEXP.

John Peel’s collection
One chapter is a tour of Peel’s collection at the family home in Suffolk, led by his son Tom Ravenscroft, a BBC Radio 6 Music DJ, and Peel’s widow Sheila Ravenscroft. The collection is estimated at 10,000 records, with a barn for 12-inch singles and another for 45s. In the publisher’s press material for the book, Ravenscroft said: “It’s not just the history of him [John Peel] and his career. It’s the history of so much of the UK music scene and so many people that we love and know as musicians and take for granted.”

The London launch
The book was launched in the UK with a free party at the BBE Store in Hackney on 19 November 2024, with vinyl-only DJ sets.
