Shoreditch and neighbouring Spitalfields have one of the densest clusters of workspace in London, a legacy of the Old Street start-up boom of the 2010s. That covers coworking desks for freelancers and small teams, and also studios, galleries and event spaces for hire by photographers, artists and brands. This guide covers both, with every operator checked against its own website in October 2026.
Prices are given where operators publish them. Most quote on enquiry.
Coworking with a day pass
Second Home Spitalfields, 68 to 80 Hanbury Street, London E1. Day passes start at £25 plus VAT per person, with three-, five- and ten-day bundles. A pass includes a desk, wifi, phone booths, tea and filter coffee, and showers. The building is known for its plant-filled, biophilic design. It is the only operator in this guide with a published walk-in price.

Choosing a space
- For a single day at a desk, Second Home is the simplest option, with a published price.
- For a monthly desk, compare hot desks with fixed desks, ask what is included (meeting-room hours, guest passes, mail handling) and check notice periods.
- For a shoot or event, ask about load-in times, power, noise limits and whether the venue requires its own staff or caterers.
Old Street station (Northern line) and Shoreditch High Street and Hoxton (London Overground) are the main stations. Liverpool Street is ten minutes’ walk from Spitalfields.
The start-up years, from the archive
Made in Shoreditch has covered the area’s founders since 2011. That September, FundApps chief executive Andrew White told the site that “Shoreditch is the perfect microcosm in London,” and recommended Silicon Drinkabout, then held “every Friday somewhere in Shoreditch”. Read the Andrew White interview, or see what happened to Shoreditch’s start-up class.
